Take a Chance

Taje Chances

First of all, this post is not about Zac Efron. It’s about a movie he starred on. Charlie St. Cloud. A 2010 drama film based on Ben Sherwood’s best-selling novel, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud. It’s about two brothers with a love so strong that no force can separate them. Then a car accident happened one night that lead to a roller coaster kind of story. Revolving around Charlie choosing between keeping a promise he made to his brother, who died in a car accident, or going after the girl he loves. I’m no critic but I  really recommend you guys to read the book instead.

What is great about the movie was the inspiring poem by E.E. Cummings. It tugged my heartstrings. That is actually why I still look up to the film. It inspired me to seize every moment; to trust my heart; to take chances and dare never to be trapped in a the past with myriads of regrets. The poem really had a great impact on me, especially on what I’ve been through these past couple of months. Believing in your own dreams and you only is really hard and this poem helped me get through it. That is why I’m sharing this to you guys. For you to be able to stand on your own every time you feel the world is against you. Be brave. Pursue your dreams. Don’t just try. Do it. Opportunities knocks but once.

And here I’m sharing you guys an excerpt of E.E. Cummings poem.

Dive For Dreams

dive for dreams

or a slogan may topple you

(trees are their roots

and wind is wind)

trust your heart

if the seas catch fire

(and live by love

though the stars walk backward)

honour the past

but welcome the future

(and dance your death

away at the wedding)

never mind a world

with its villains or heroes

(for good likes girls

and tomorrow and the earth)

in spite of everything

which breathes and moves, since Doom

(with white longest hands

neating each crease)

will smooth entirely our minds

Q&A Portion in College

I was granted an interview by a local university. It truly was an honor to be interviewed by them. So to prepare myself a good ‘show’ (LOL.) for them. I’ve researched some questions and wrote answers for each. I practiced them until the day came. It was a panel interview. Hoping I could impress the interviewers but it went completely opposite of what I expected but in the end, I got in. I don’t know why.

Anyway, here are some types of questions you may encounter and tips for answering them. NOTE: This is just me. If ever I would be asked these questions, the bullet-ed statements would most likely be my answers. But remember that interview questions are desultory. Interviewers are sometimes random, too. The Story Behind My Mona Lisa Smile

Everyone has a story. Everyone has gone through something that has changed them. Perhaps, even by just hearing or reading someone’s own story, many lives were changed. With the world’s never-ending multiplication of human race, my story will most likely be a hearsay to many or maybe none at all but I’m taking my chances. My name is Marvin and this is my story.

I’m nothing but a John Doe to many. I was pretty contented at first but now I refuse to be one. The passion of making one’s own mark in this crazy world has grown stronger within me. Mankind can never be truly satisfied.

I’m self-proclaimed of many things. Singer, dancer, writer etc. It depends with my in-need-of-fine-tuning brain. It really goes to show that the only permanent thing in this world is change. It really does. Sometimes, I’m spontaneous, Sometimes, I’m cautious. Or  sometimes both.

I’m a hopeless romantic. I dream that one day, I will find that special girl and I will surely sweep her off her feet the moment I lay my eyes on her. Well, excuse me for my homosexual tendencies but when I think love, its something magical to be quite over acting for others. A feeling of needing love just like the air and the water that one cannot function without. Now, that’s deep.

All things start with a nice dream. Not exactly dreams but ambitions. I see myself graduating with my chosen field of study, passing the licensure examination and owning an international company.  I’ve got ambitions as high as Taipei 101 I know, but before I reach to that reality I need pure determination, just like those engineers and contractors who made that Taipei 101 possible. Who would ever thought this had all started from a dream that turned blueprint that turned into a 1671ft building of what is known today?

These words of mine may seem insignificant to most of you, but these things made me the person I am today. These are the silver linings I’m holding on too each and every day. These are the things inspires me to do the best I can to pursue the impossible dream.

But there’s still a long way to go.  I’m still that boy who my mother used to love. I’m still that guy who wants to find true love. I’m still that man who wished to be different, to make a mark of my own, to be known at something good. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow or the day after that but what I know is that I should be ready for anything that is to come. It’s just amazing how destiny works.

And that is my story.
